As a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, the Movers and Shakers is funded completely by generous donations from the public. All donations are tax-deductible. We graciously accept financial contributions and furniture donations.

Acceptable Items

Items We Accept:

Baby furniture

Bassinets
Changing tables
Cribs

Dining chairs
Dining tables
Dressers / chests of drawers
Electric dryers
End tables
Futons / futon beds
Mattresses, box springs, and basic head- / footboards
Nightstands
Small bookcases (36’’and smaller)
Small mirrors
Small- to medium televisions (36’’and smaller)
Sofas (no sleeper sofas)
Tabletop microwave ovens
Washing machines

When donating items that come in pieces or require parts for assembly, please provide a labeled Ziploc bag for the parts or to tape and label the parts together.

Items We Do Not Accept:

Any product recalled by the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (www.cpsc.gov).
Bicycles
Built-in appliances
China cabinets, hutches, corner cabinets
Drop-side cribs
Gas dryers
File cabinets
Freezers
Large (executive size) desks
Large bookcases (over 36”)
Entertainment centers
Large televisions (over 36’’)
Miscellaneous baby items

Swings
Strollers
Bath tubs
Toys

Office furniture

Patio furniture
Recreation tables (i.e., ping-pong, poker, or pool tables)
Refrigerators (Note: we may take these on an as-needed basis)
Sleeper Sofas
Stereo equipment
Toaster ovens
Wall beds
Water beds

Quality Guidelines:

Movers and Shakers is not equipped to repair furniture and appliances. Therefore, we cannot take items with any of the following:

Tears (open, taped, or otherwise) larger than 1”.

Significant stains
Cigarette burns
Generally over-worn
Missing any hardware or parts (i.e., screws, legs, etc.)
Broken furniture
Appliances that do not function properly.
